A Day of Purpose and Learning: Representing HRD India at the IDPD 2025 Awareness Rally

As the CEO of HRD India, I am fortunate to experience moments that broaden my perspective and strengthen my commitment to human development. Attending the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) – 2025 Awareness Rally, organized by the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (Divyangjan), Kolkata, was one such enriching experience.

The rally brought together over 250 participants, including persons with disabilities, students, staff members, and caregivers. The sense of unity, determination, and positivity that filled the air was truly inspiring. This was more than an event — it was a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to foster inclusion and accessibility in every sphere of society.

An Experience That Leaves an Impact

Walking from RSM Square alongside the participants, I witnessed stories of courage unfold before my eyes. Many individuals, despite daily challenges, carried themselves with remarkable confidence and optimism. Their resilience reminded me that true strength is not defined by physical ability but by the spirit with which we embrace life.

For me, this aligned deeply with the values we uphold at HRD India — to empower, uplift, and create opportunities for all. Moments like this reinforce the belief that leadership is not about position; it is about enabling others to rise.

Key Learnings and Reflections

1. Inclusion is essential for real progress.
Accessibility and equal opportunity should be foundational values, not optional considerations.

2. Quiet resilience is profound.
The determination shown by participants offered lessons in strength, patience, and perseverance.

3. Community fuels empowerment.
The collective support from students, staff, and volunteers highlighted the power of unity in driving social change.

A Note of Gratitude

Being invited as a Special Guest and sharing words of encouragement was a deeply humbling experience. I left the event with renewed purpose and a stronger commitment to promoting inclusive practices within HRD India and beyond.

My sincere appreciation to the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (Divyangjan) for their tireless efforts and for giving me the opportunity to be part of this meaningful movement.
